A Breath Of Fresh Air Called Freedom
Ah, Life in the 'country. There is nothing I enjoy more than being able to step outside my door, take a deep breath of fresh air and experience the joy of just being alive. I know that every one can get this same feeling where ever they live but for me, having lived in many places, it is best felt in the 'country. I wonder sometimes why more people don't recognize this simple joy and just hurry on their way through life without a second thought given to the air around them, the smell of new fallen snow, a fresh cut lawn, the sound of a bird chirping or any of the other things that are free to enjoy. I think, maybe, it is because they don't have an understanding of what a privilege it is to be able to enjoy these simple things or maybe it is because they are tied up with overly busy lives and mountains of worry. It does sadden me a little because all of these simple things are free and if they are free that means we enjoy something called freedom. What is freedom to me? Well I have thought a lot about that and I guess the best way I can describe it is the ability to live life without having to fret about the simple things in life ( which really are the finer things), being able to help my family, friends and neighbors and being able to receive the same in return, being able to rejoice and share with others over their successes as well as being able to stand with them when it is needed and not having to look over my shoulder to see if someone or something is going to take it away from me. You see, to have freedom you must first: Desire it Want it Work for it And finally "harvest" it In the 'country, we "plant" many different types of "crops", in many different "fields" and look forward to "reaping the harvest" but we also always have a mainstay or primary"crop" whether it comes from a "seed" we planted or from the raising of "livestock". Being free to take a breathe of fresh air is like that. You need to make freedom your main "crop" so that you can always look forward to the "harvesting" of it's benefits. Just remember one thing though neighbor. No worthwhile sustainable "crop" ever grew overnight or without someone taking care of the "field". From the Desk of The Country Boy
